A Brief Bio

Having qualified as a physiotherapist in 1985 at the Middlesex hospital in London, I came to live in Melbourne in 1987. I have worked as a physio at St Vincents Hospital, at various private practices including Melbourne Physio Pilates and Fitness group, and for the army at Victoria and Simpson Barracks.

I discovered Pilates in 2000 after the birth of my third child, at a time when my body felt weak on the inside and no other form of exercise seemed to be beneficial. I tried lots of different types of Pilates with many different instructors before enrolling in a Polestar Pilates instructors course ‘the Rehab Series’ in 2001. I immediately put the theory into practice by teaching an over-50s Pilates mat class at the Fairfield Community centre, later followed by a Limited Mobility Pilates class for those who find it difficult to lie on a mat.

I have subsequently completed a further Polestar course ‘The Mat Series’, as well as numerous other courses to further perfect my repertoire for teaching mat classes.

In 2005 I began treating patients at home in Alphington, finding that physio and Pilates are mutually complementary services. Each week now I teach seven Pilates classes, work two days at Simpson Barracks Army base as a Physio and continue to treat patients from home. I am proud to have served the Alphington and Fairfield community since 2001.
